If you fancy yourself as an adventure junkie then head out and explore everything that the great outdoors has to offer. There is an abundance of outdoor activities to experience right in our very own backyard.

There are several picturesque hiking and bushwalking trails on offer which cater for the beginner right through to the more adventurous day/overnight hikes. The Scenic Rim also offers numerous fishing locations, a stunning golf course, quad biking, scenic flights, hot air ballooning, rock climbing, off-road four-wheel driving and horse riding.

One of the best ways to explore this region is on foot. Rugged mountain ranges, spectacular lookouts and rare wildlife envelop the prestigious Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area Park. This experience can only be described as remarkable. The ancient, volcanic peaks of mounts French, Greville, Moon and Edwards are recognised for their unique shapes and are favourite bushwalking/hiking destinations for the intrepid. A mosaic of vegetation types inhabits the Main Range National Park along with beautiful waterholes, gorges, sheer cliffs, eucalypt forests, towering gums, seasonal lagoons, crystal clear creeks and cave formations.

The Scenic Rim is a popular destination for fishing and boating. It is home to three dams – Maroon Dam in the south, Moogerah Dam in the west and the newer Wyaralong Dam, located between Boonah and Beaudesert.

Moogerah Dam is located on Reynolds Creek which is a short 10 min drive from Boonah. Lake Moogerah permits the use of motor-powered boats. A true haven for waterskiing and jet skiing enthusiasts. It is also a popular fishing spot for die-hard anglers as well as being home to a number of scenic walks located in the nearby countryside. Picnics, BBQ’s, swimming and kayaking can also be enjoyed at this stunning location.
